My interest in living things and healing nature came naturally to me as a child from my mother, a nurse, and my father, a Biology teacher.
I attended Ohio University Athens, graduating in 1988 with a B.S.Ed. in Biological Science. In 2003, I obtained an AD in Nursing. In 2004 I joined the staff of Denison University Wellnes Center - Whisler Hall as a full-time triage RN, I am semi-retired but help out as needed.
In 2015, I was certified in doTERRA’s AromaTouch Technique, a clinical approach to essential oil application to enhance and support homoeostasis - offering this technique to family and friends.
In 2017 I met Jeanne Sands, a Reiki Master and a The Reiki Alliance member. I became a 1st degree and 2nd degree Reiki practitioner that year. Currently, I am a Reiki Master candidate with Jeanne hoping to complete by the end of 2019. Our traditional lineage is passed down directly from a very short list: Usui, Hayashi, Takata, Gray, Rosenthal, Sands ... to me (Schwendeman)
Starting 2019 Fall Semester, I am excited to announce the Denison University Wellness Center is offering Reiki and the AromaTouch Technique to the Denison students. I feel blessed to be a part of the Alternative Therapies they are provding the students and their overall wellness needs.
